Travelling to Perth

No matter where you are in the world, Perth and Western Australia are closer than you think.

There are 17 international, 5 domestic and 11 regional airlines that operate into Perth Airport, connecting travellers to over 50 destinations around Australia and overseas.

Perth is Europe’s gateway to Australia for international travellers, with one stop connections through Asia and the Middle East providing long-haul travel. Flights to and from China run directly from Shanghai airport, while in the USA flights regularly depart and arrive in Los Angeles. The Middle East has good access through services to Perth from Dubai; South Africa runs a daily service to Perth, and New Zealand is connected via direct services from Auckland to Perth. The flying time from Singapore is less than five hours, and Jakarta is just four hours away. From India, swift and convenient access is available through Singapore, Kuala Lumpur or Bangkok.

A large number of connections guarantee accessibility to Perth from Australia’s other major cities such as Sydney, Brisbane and Canberra.

Perth’s domestic and international air terminals are located just 20 minutes from the centre of Perth city, and are convenient to travel to by train, car, bus or taxi.

By Air - International flight

Over fifteen international airlines operate scheduled services to and from Perth.

Qantas, Australia’s home-grown airline, has an extensive network to Asia, and onward to Europe along with direct services to Japan. Emirates operates on a double daily basis in and out of Perth to the Middle East (Dubai) and South African Airways have a daily service from Perth to Johannesburg. Low cost airlines like AirAsia (which operates a Perth-Kuala Lumpur-London service), and Tiger Airways (from Singapore) also offer an inexpensive alternative to some of the other traditional carriers.

For CAA delegates’ international travel to Australia Qantas will provide the best fare available at the time of enquiry.

Please refer to the contact list downloadable here and email the Qantas contact closest to your home city. Qantas will quote delegates either a special conference fare or, if there is a tactical/sale fare, they may offer that as an alternative if it is lower. Fares are subject to availability and some conditions and the discounts vary from region to region, therefore we would recommend delegates to make contact as early as possible. Delegates must mention that are they registered to attend the CAA 2013 Perth Conference.

By Air - Domestic flights

International Delegates may also look to arrive from the east coast of Australia.

Domestic airlines Qantas and Virgin Blue offer an extensive air service to some of the other capital and secondary cities across Australia, as do inexpensive alternatives like Jetstar & Tiger Airways. Skywest airline also regularly service the Australian Western coast up to Kununara & Broome in the North and to Albany in the South. Skywest flights also transport as far as Darwin in the Northern Territory.

Qantas is the official carrier for the conference. Book online with Qantas and save time and money. Online airfares are cheaper than booking over the phone. Plus, you’ll have access to all the latest fares.

Perth Airport encompasses the International, Domestic and Regional Terminals. All aircraft movements occur on two runways located between the International and Domestic terminals.

Terminal 1 (International) is located on the eastern side of the main runway.

Terminals 2 and 3 (Domestic) are located on the western side of the airfield.

A terminal transfer bus operates between the International Terminal (T1) and the Domestic Terminals (T2 & T3) for passengers transferring to connecting flights.

Tickets are $8 for adults and children over 5 years of age and are available from the Perth Airport Connect kiosks or directly from the bus driver.

The Terminal Transfer service is free of charge for passengers travelling with Qantas, Qantas code-share airlines or for oneworld Alliance members. Please collect your complimentary bus ticket from the Qantas Ticketing Counter prior to boarding the bus.

To catch the Terminal Transfer bus, make your way to the bus stop which is located near the Arrivals area at the International Terminal and in front of Qantas Terminal 2 at the Domestic Terminal.

By train

If you are already in Australia, you might consider to travel by train. 

Great Southern Rail offers a three-day trip departing either from Sydney, Melbourne or Adelaide to Perth.

The Indian Pacific rail service is known as one of the greatest train journeys in the world and offers scenery through vineyards, river lands and across the Nullabor Plain. The Indian Pacific departs weekly on Wednesdays from Sydney arriving in Perth on Saturdays. From Adelaide journeys depart on Thursdays and arrive in Perth on Saturdays.
