Venue

The CAA 2013 Perth Conference will be held in the:

- University of Western Australia Campus buildings (Reid Library, Law Library, Science Library, Social Science, Arts Buildings): workshops and registrations only on March 25th 2013.

- University Club of Western Australia: conference from March 26th to 28th 2013 (main conference Venue).

The University of Western Australia Campus (March 25th 2013)

Registration: the registration desk will be located in the Social Sciences Building Staff Room (n. 5 in the Relevant locations map ). The registration will open at 8.00 am and it will be held all day until 5 pm.

Workshop: please check the location of the workshops on the Conference timetable or at the Registration desk.

The University Club of Western Australia (March 26th to 28th 2013)

The University Club of Western Australia is the venue for the Computer Applications in Archaeology Conference 2013.

Situated just eight minutes drive from the Perth CBD on the banks of the Swan River and featuring breathtaking views of Matilda Bay and the Perth city skyline, the University Club is located on campus at The University of Western Australia on Hackett Drive in Crawley (Hackett Entrance 1) and offers a range of transport options.

The Club is easily reached by public transport and it is also a pleasant walk or cycle from nearby suburbs.

BUS

services to UWA Campus are 23, 24, 78, 97, 98, 99, 102, 103, 107. View the following timetables at www.transperth.wa.gov.au for more information:

Circleroute 200 (98 & 98) – circuit around the greater Perth CBD and south-west to Fremantle, with a timed stop at UWA.
Western 31 (102, 107) – from Wellington Street bus station, near Perth train station, to Fremantle, with a timed stop at Sterling Highway/Fairway, at the north-west corner of UWA campus.
Western 32 (103) – from East Perth to Fremantle, with a timed stop at Sterling Highway/Hampden Road, at the north-west corner of UWA campus.
Western 41 (97) – from Subiaco station to UWA, with a circuit along Hackett Drive.
Western 44 (23 & 24) – from East Perth to Claremont, with a timed stop at Sterling Hwy/Broadway at the north-west corner of UWA campus.
Western 45 (23, 78, 102 & 107) - from Wellington Street bus station, near Perth train station, to Sterling Highway/Fairway at the north-west corner of UWA campus.

The above routes take you to the west and north-west entrances to the campus, but you can walk to the University Club on the eastern side via Hackett Drive.

TRAIN

There is no direct access to the UWA campus via the Transperth rail network, however you can reach the venue from nearby train stations via a bus or walking route.

The closest stations to the University Club are on the Fremantle line, which runs from Fremantle into the Perth CBD.

From Claremont and Shenton Park stations, you can transfer to a bus. Services 23, 102 and 107 from Claremont and services 98 and 99 from Shenton Park stop at the university (see above). From Loch Street station, it is an approximately one hour walk to the campus, through the surrounding suburbs

Fares

Transperth fares are based on zones. On the Circleroute, it is a maximum 2-zone charge. Cash tickets can be purchased from all bus and ferry drivers, or from ticket vending machine at train stations.

Accessing the Venue from the Airport

There are a number of options including buses, airport shuttles and hire-a-car available for transport between Perth airport and the University Club conference centre at UWA.

BUS

Buses to the Perth CBD are available directly outside the Domestic Terminals at Perth airport. Bus 37 leaves every 15 minutes from 6:00AM until 7:50PM, after which it leaves at 8:50PM, 9:50PM and 10:50PM. It operates daily between Kings Park and Domestic Terminals (T2 & T3), via the Esplanade Bus Port, Victoria Park Transfer Station and Belmont Forum Shopping Centre. For buses from the CBD to the Venue please refer above.

Please note that Transperth does not operate bus services to Perth Airport's International Terminal (see Perth Airport Connect shuttle service below).

SHUTTLE

Perth Airport Connect operate both to and from Perth Airport, offering pick passenger up or drop off right at the Perth City or Fremantle accommodation or other city landmarks. Shuttles will take passengers to the city centre and from there, there are several buses available to reach the University Club (see BUS paragraph above).

Tickets (adults $18 one way, or $30 return) can be purchased using cash or EFTPOS at the CONNECT kiosk located on the forecourts at both the Domestic and International terminals.

CAR HIRE

A range of cars can be hired from both the international and domestic airports from rental companies such as Europcar, Hertz, AVIS, Alamo and a number of other suppliers. Prices start from around $35-$45 per day.

Venue

Parking

Short term (3-hour) parking is available on a 'pay and display' basis in University Car Park 3 which is located immediately adjacent to the Club. The cost is $2.00 per hour to a maximum of $6.00.

Full day parking is available on a 'pay and display' basis in Car Park 23 (corner Hackett Drive and Mounts Bay Road), and along the University side of Hackett Drive. This is charged at $1.50 per hour to a maximum of $10.00. Public parking is indicated by a red "P" on the Campus map.

Car parking is free of charge in all University car parks after 5pm weekdays and all day on weekends.

Yellow student bays (indicated by a yellow "P" on the map below) are free of charge outside of term time only - should you park in this area during term time, you will risk a fine.

Venue Theatre

No-smoking policy

Please note that effective 1 January 2012, the whole of the UWA campus will become non-smoking. Delegates cannot smoke inside the Club or any of the Club's balconies or terraces, however ashtrays are provided at the taxi rank in front of the Club for smokers.
